Fontainhas Latin Quarter Panjim
Picturesque buildings, chapels and wall art makes the latin quarter of Fontainhas a must visit on your Goa trip.
Panaji • North Goa
Description
Fontainhas, also called Goa's Latin Quarter, is in Panjim. To the east is an old creek called Ourem Creek, and to the west are the Altinho hills with springs. Many tourists skip this heritage colony in favour of Goa's beautiful beaches and waves, but its colorful and interesting sights are more than enough reason to go there.
The colorful houses in the Portuguese style and the beautiful street art on the walls make the Latin Quarter a work of art in and of itself. For a more unique art experience, art lovers should go to the Gitanjali Gallery, which is next to the Panjim Inn, a heritage hotel.
There’s a café on-site, so you can warm up with an espresso as you browse the collection.
